RSOC SKI RACE TEAM 2025-2026
OUR RACE TEAM ROCKS! The RCOC Race Team placed 1st during the 2024-2025 Crescent Ski Council's Eastern Divisiong program.
Are you passionate about skiing? Keep in mind, you do not have to be an expert skier to be on the Race Team. If you like to compete with others, then you are qualified to be on the team. Racing provides a great way to improve your skills while having fun with your friends on the slopes. Our goal is to add 3-4 Racers this year.
Every season RSOC competes against 18 other ski clubs in the Crescent Ski Council’s Southeastern regional racing program. Our RSOC race team usually places well, and we hope to have another great season this year. Sign-ups have started and continue throughout the season. All RSOC members are eligible for the team; there are no age restrictions. The youngest Crescent racer is four years old, and the oldest is over 70! The majority of the racers are recreational skiers looking to challenge themselves on the local mountains. Competition is structured such that even first-time racers collect prizes, as all racers are grouped according to ability. The race season starts in December and consists of five weekend races, split between Appalachian and Sugar in North Carolina, and Winterplace in West Virginia. There is no requirement to attend all the races, so you can race as many, or as few as you like. Each weekend’s multi-discipline race format consists of two runs of slalom on Saturday followed by two runs of giant slalom on Sunday. Prizes are given out each day. Race team benefits include discounts on lifts, equipment, performance tune-ups and repairs, and access to professional coaching. Does it get much better than that?
