Let's explore the stars! Join us for a Sunday afternoon outing in Chapel Hill for lunch and then a show at Morehead Planetarium.

LUNCH BEFORE THE SHOW

If anyone would like to join us for lunch before the show, contact the Coordinator. There will be a limit of eight 8 people for lunch, although there is no limit for the planetarium showing.

THE PLANETARIUM SHOW: WE THE STARS

What are we made of? Explore the secrets of our cosmic chemistry and our origins. Learn about the evolution of the universe by following the formation of hydrogen atoms to the synthesis of carbon, and the molecules that are involved for life.

A WALK AND COFFEE AFTER THE SHOW

After the show, we can walk around Chapel Hill and then visit a coffee shop.  The shops are fun, the campus is beautiful, and the coffee is good.

This will be a fun little afternoon trip!

Location: Morehead Planetarium, 250 East Franklin Street, Chapel Hill

If you can't find street parking, you can park in the planetarium parking lot for $1.75/hour.

Time: Meet outside and in front of the planetarium's main entrance door of the planetarium at 2:00 p.m.  If you arrive after 2:10, the group will be inside.  (The show starts at 2:30, but it’s wise to arrive early to buy tickets in case the show sells out.) Carpooling will be attempted upon request, and riders should pitch in for gas.

NOTE: If you are interested in lunch beforehand, the Coordinator will provide you with the time and place to meet.

End time: Late afternoon

Cost: Tickets are for the planetarium show are $8.25. If there are 10 or more, our group may qualify for a discount ($1.00 off per ticket).

Maximum attendees: Lunch: 8

Planetarium show: unlimited
